Tetris for the CD-i.
Often it's seen as a title that should be owned on the platform, but don't let the pretty visuals and soothing porn music (erm, wait, what?) deceive you. One-button flip controls mean you can only flip your pieces one way, and double that with sluggish control response with a gamepad, the game is pretty much impossible when you get the stage nine. Even playing with a mouse (which responds much better) doesn't help things at all.
An otherwise pretty game, there are many other less broken versions of Tetris out there to play.

Frost Byte for Amiga.
You control a -IDontEvenKnowWhatIt'sSupposedToBe- in
a... ehm... "confusing" but definitely cold world.
You're objective is to... I never really got it.
The best thing about this game is:
a) the sound effect when you jump.
b) the 880kb of storage space you get
after erasing the game disc's original data.

Loadstar: The Legend of Tully Bodine for Sega cd - I do like fmv games, and wanted to like this one also. Sad to say, it didn't happen. The game proved far too frustrating, w/difficult controls and hits that were impossible to avoid. The game clearly has some decent production values, but they are wrapped in a challenge that doesn't seem fair imho. I didn't have fun trying to progress in this game, and eventually grew to regret buying it. Stick w/Sewer Shark & avoid this frustrating copycat.

Global Defense for the SMS - The reviews I've read for this one are all over the map, good & bad ... sadly, I gotta fall in the latter camp. I can see how nostalgia can influence this one ... it looks & sounds pretty good. But the needlessly awkward control (seperate controls for moving your ship & moving the aiming cursor ... it's bad), the very repetitive nature, and the feeling of frustration (only 1 life) even when I advanced killed it for me. No matter how hard I tried, it simply was never fun, so unless you've fond memories of this one I say pass on it for better SMS games.

Ninja Gaiden for Atari Lynx. A port of the original arcade game. It's a poor Final Fight clone that's just not exciting to play. I was disappointed playing it in the arcade and I was disappointed playing it on my Lynx. It's not worth anyone's time, especially when the late games in the series are so much better.
