Recommend an uncommon game for any Nintendo platform (Except for Wii).

Rules:

1 - Nothing to be posted on games like: Zelda, Mario or any top 20 Ninetndo game. Uncommon games only. If in doubt, ask. i.e. PM 3DOkid.

2 - Write a 2 line review. War and Peace will be deleted.

3 - No comments on other peoples recommendations. If you want to comment, start a new thread in the General Forum with the title of the game.

4 - Positive posts only. Remember: "Recommend" not "Slag off"

P.N.03 for the GameCube. The forgotten game in Capcom's big cube exclusives, has great atmosphere & fans of shooters should get a kick out of it. Can be found dirt cheap also!

Shadowgate, on NES or GameBoy Color. There was a N64 version but a different game and not as fun. I checked out a proto of a third game but it never came out. I should have taken it and ran.

Star Soldier - Vanishing Earth for the Nintendo 64. The popular series arrives on the N64 to ensure a fun, if short ride through space. A bit easy, but still quite enjoyable. Fans of the series or shooters in general will surely like it. It won't break your wallet either which is always nice. :)

Baseball Simulator 1.000 for the original NES. In an era when just having a baseball game draw all nine players on the field was considered revolutionary, Culture Brain's Baseball Simulator 1.000 went above and beyond with battery storage so that you had complete statistical tracking, managerial control, and a RPG-inspired points/roster creation system over your club through a complete 160+ game season.

Deja Vu I & II for the Gameboy color. These old school style text adventures with graphics are really fun. I'd grab it just to play the original, but the sequel makes it that much sweeter. Good mysteries.

Star Tropics for the Nes. This game got fairly below average reviews back in the day, and I never could understand why? Sure it borrows from other Nes games, but they are all good ones so who cares? If you like the original Zelda, you'll surely love this forgotten Nintendo game. My friends and I used played this a bunch, and enjoyed every minute of it! Highly recommended! :D

Virtua Quest, - Ngc title set in the future where people log on to the nexus network to escape reality. You play as a boy named Jei who's intention is to go treasure hunting on the nexus. It's a mixture of shenmue and phantasy star online with similar level up methods. Give this one a go, you'd be surprised @ the people who you meet, Dural as a boss anyone? Ignore the bad reviews, this game rox

Felix the Cat for NES. It's an obscure, but surprisingly fun platformer. It's made by Hudson, so predictably it plays a bit like Bonk, which isn't a bad thing at all.

The Lost Vikings 2 for SNES. Another obscure but fun platformer. This game has some puzzle solving elements added, which doesn't take away from the fun at all. Great, obscure game.

Geist for Gamecube. An FPS with some strange game mechanics, where you posses different bodies. inanimate objects, enemy soldiers, animals, etc.

Pacman vs. for the Gamecube. Grab the Player's Choice edition of Pacman World 2, and you'll be getting this bonus game ... a game that is better than the primary release. A new twist on the classic, this game has 1 player controlling pacman on their gba w/full view of the maze, while the ghosts are controlled by other players on the tv screen w/only partial views. Sound fun? It is, and if you game w/friends it's a must!

Journey to Silius for the NES.

Journey to Silius was kinda of a silent sleeper. A gem in the rough. Not many people know of, or have heard of this game. That's why I am recommending it!

Journey to Silius is made by Sunsoft. It was originally supposed to be a Terminator game, but Sunsoft lost the license and had to change a few things around. There are still remnants of Terminator in the game that you will notice, if you are paying attention.

JtS is a side scrolling, run and gun platformer. The soundtrack is amazing, like all Sunsoft games at the time. The music was done by the same composers that did Batman and Blaster Master on the NES, so you know it's good. It has that same style of sound.

The controls are pretty decent, but will take some getting used to, especially how he jumps. But definitely not complaining here.

I recommend trying out JtS as soon as you can.

Ooops, that was more than two lines.

Yeah do it - but we run the risk of upsetting Lemmi. WHAT TO DO?

A vote?

Like an old movie, where we all stand round the gallows passing judgement.

Let's start a poll :)

Parallel Worlds for the SNES

At the risk of sounding like Lightning, I suggest the hack The Legend of Zelda: Parallel Worlds. This is a monster from hell, I have not yet beat it and have spent many nights crying because of of this game. It's not for the light hearted, if it wasn't such a challenge and awesome looking I would never put myself through so much torture. If you can't find 1.1 of this game PM me.

XEXYZ NES,

a weird but awesome sci-fi game that mixes action, side scrolling platforming, and SHMUPS all into one kick ass game.

You are this little elf looking dude and you shoot giant spiders, other elf looking creatures and tons of other weird looking creatures and you get power ups from faeries.

Each level ends in a metal fortress that contains a big boss battle on a hover board device and you get to save a princess and go to the next island where you fight more monsters. It had pretty decent graphics for NES and had so much crap going on at once you will want to rip your hair out. But it was a ton of fun.

Kendo Rage- SNES

A Side scrolling um martial arts type game I think based on an anime or at least very anime in style stars a girl on her way to school who has to fight monsters and ghosts along the way has cutscene and looks very anime-ish. HARD though and not very forgiving but still very cool style and decent gameplay and pretty good graphics.

Off road Challenge for the N64 - This Midway racer was ported from the arcade to the N64, and got pretty ho hum reviews. While it could have been better, I think its really fun. It's like Hydro Thunder on wheels! If you can ignore the fact that its yet another racer on the N64 (and also that its too easy) you'll be forced to admit that the game is addictive in spite of itself. Worth checking out.

Super Glove Ball for the NES

It's a 3-D maze game. You pilot a space ship that is shaped like a glove and use a ball to break tiles out of walls to advance up, down, left, right, or forward through a maze. There are lots of aliens, power ups and some wicked bosses. And if you like the Power Glove that's great as it was made for it. Just plug and play, no codes needed.

Balloon Fight for the Nes - I only just recently started playing this very old game Nes game ... and I'm kicking myself for waiting all these years! (decades!) I think I like it better than Joust. The controls just feel so right ... their great! :D A superb update on a title that's considered a classic, this is probably better than the original source material. A game that's easy to get (Original, Gba, Animal Crossing gc, Virtual Console, etc ...) Balloon Fight is fun! :)

Blackthorne - SNES

In all other countries but the USA known as "Blackhawk", this
platform shooter could be considered as a sort of Flashback light.
It takes place in an "ancient future" and combines platforming and
shooting with basic adventure elements.
It also adds some sort of 3D dimension since you're able to hide
in the background, avoiding bullets.

Parodius (Series) for the Super Famicom/SNES

I remember first reading about "Parodius Da!" way back in 1992. I thought it was too bad they don't give games like that a try in the US. Konami put out a series of very comedic Gradius-type (SHUMP) games, featuring all sorts of characters from the company.

Three of these games were released for the Super Famicom: "Parodius Da!" (a remake of the original Parodius also released in Europe as "Parodius: Non-Sense Fantasy"), Gokujou Parodius (my personal fav) and Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius.

Blades of Steel on the NES is still a favorite of mine. Great visuals, sound and 2 player is still cracking. This ice hockey game is better than some of the later NHL offerings.

Super Dodge Ball for the Nes is a game that I loved when I was a kid ... and I still do as an adult. :) For an 8-bit game the graphics, and especially the music imo, are great! It never seems to get old either, and pegging the cpu or a buddy w/a super throw is just as much fun now as it ever was. 8) I have a later installment for my DS, but imho nothing beats the original. Awesome! :D

Maniac Mansion NES
This game is seriously one of my favorite games to date.
Schafer has to be one of the funniest game creators that come to mind. The comedy is original and funny, the gameplay is flawless and smooth, and the replay ability is pretty good for a NES point-click style game.
It is also one of the only b-movie style horror games that I actually like.

I agree. MM was one of the games (if not the game) that got me hooked on point n' click titles. Long live the graphic adventure genre!
