Panasonic FZ-1 door wont open

Post by Pooyan » Sun Apr 12, 2009 5:02 am

Everytime I push the open/close tray button on my Panasonic FZ-1
It starts to come out a mm or two, but then it stops like it got stuck and goes back in.

Anyone know whats causing the problem and how to fix it?

If you open it up it probably wont be very hard to tell what is causing it. I would do that instead of trying to force it open. Just dont lose any of the many screws you have to take out to open it up :/

I opened it up, took a look at everything.
Seems fine.

Even after taking the entire cd tray apart, I couldn't find anything.
Once I get it unstuck manually it works, but sometimes it still sticks.

I think it's this white plastic lever thing though thats sticking somehow (i guess lol)

But who knows, I need to look at it more.

When I received my FZ-1 it had this problem. I removed the cover and the cd drive was kind of bent to the right. I just bent it back and realigned it witht he door. Works fine now.

Don't know if that helps.

I suppose this is one of the very few times i can say "glad i got a Goldstar" The CD tray on the Goldstar is reliable and silky smooth!....... But that maybe the only good thing about it as mine has a couple of "issues" :?

Are the Panasonic drives supposed to open and close smoothly? I am only asking as when i was over my mates i noticed his CD drawer is a little bit noisy and "shakey" when it opens and closes and in comparison the CD drawer on my Goldstar is quiet, smooth and fast at opening and closing... also quite solid!

I hope not all Panasonics have dodgy drive tray's as i really want an FZ-1... but maybe it's due to age or over use??
