I realize that technology soldiers on, but some people are already 'hoping' for the next next-gen? This is madness surely?
It will be, I predict, a complete and utter balls-up. And here's why:
- There has been no significant leap in technology. Not GFX, storage or CPU anything. So, anything made now will not be a true next-gen it will be 0.5 next gen. And surely, nobody wants that?
- This gen has been rubbish. I'm still waiting for this generation to kick-off. It's sort of floundered around with gimmicks, co-op, casual and DLC none of which have caused my jaw to drop.
- Nintendo Wii has romped home by selling to people with all but a passing interest in gaming. Meaning that every development dollar will be pouring into that casual bucket. I perish to think what Microsoft and Sony will do chasing after the same crowd. It genuinely scary.
- If this gen has taught us all something, it's that the newer and more complex something is, the more likely your manufacturing process will wazz on your dreams of perfection. Having suffered under the sloppy hand of MS XBox360 I don't want any piece of kit that has a life expectancy less than that of a fruit fly.
OMG! Next-next gen
