Jag Homebrew - again... already

It does float! And doesn't get soggy in milk! :)

Jag Homebrew - again... already

Post by 3DOKid » Sun Jul 05, 2009 8:54 am

Okay, okay. So I have a Jaguar. I have the CD Addon. I have Protector SE and I have Encryption bypass thingy.

Is there like a good, easy to understand, resource for getting homebrew running on the Jag?

Will I need a soldering iron?

Luckily no.

You are only $25 bucks ... oops.. only $15 bucks from BJL greatness.

(Protector SE was the costly bit, so you have the hard part out of the way.)

Ummm.... once you get that, write me and I'll help guide you through. And there are some neat things out there for the BJL and Jaguar. My personal favorite... SURROUNDED. :) (And Tetris, Jagmania, Jetpac, Atomic, Native, yadda yadda....)

Ok yeh... if you don't have Protector SE, you can get the BJL kit instead for only $20...

Some soldering required. ;)

It's good to see you're going to try out some Jag homebrew games. 8)

Sorry, but I'm clueless when it comes to stuff like this ...

If I was to buy SkyHammer, Hyper Force, etc ... I couldn't play it straight form the box? I'd need some kind of bypass cart?

I imagine this is a painfully obvious question, but I plead ignorance about all things Jag post '96.

Yes, you can play the games straight form the box. The bypass cart is Protector SE this let you boot Jag CD's that doesn't have Encryption on them but that is a thing of the passed now!

Actually you would be able to play those games straight from the box. Even prior to the encryption key for the Jaguar being released, there were bypass solutions available, which I think is what most of the Songbird releases use. Any game that you buy on cart should work fine, as they're either encrypted or use the bypass internally.

That would suck if there were games released that needed an additional Bypass.

How did the Songbird games do their bypass? They were before the encryption key was found.

Sure thing. Let me know what you think of some of these homebrews once you get them going.
