3DO Console prices on the rise?

Post by 3DOKid » Wed Jun 02, 2010 8:53 pm

A year ago a 3DO boxed wouldn't go for more than about £35 ($50) there is one actively being bid on eBay for £50 (+£14)shipping. ($75) that strikes me as a lot.

Are prices of the 3DO going up? Finally a r.e.a.l collectors item? Anyone else noticed this?

Seems to be across the board to me ... at least w/Ebay. Vintage is in, though who knows if this is a trend soon to pass or not. I'm grateful that my collection is at a point where Ebay no longer offers much.

Game Gavel seems to have fair prices. I haven't bought 3DO stuff from them mind you, but other stuff seems reasonable.

I agree. For 3DO consoles, I'd say prices are between 10% - 20% higher than they were back in 2007 / 2008. Especially if the console is boxed. 3DO games are up too, but by a slightly smaller percentage.

The prices have gone back down? Last time I even searched for 3DO on ebay it was "WOW! L@@K! 3D0 GEX Very Rare!!!" only $60 game with no case.

I hate this retro trend.

It's very different here - our prices are always high - it's a combination of a throw away society with limited distribution. Recently a boxed FZ-10 sold on ebay Australia for around $200 - a lot - well take this into consideration - it came with a couple of games (mostly commons) so there is about $20 worth there , it came with an NTSC to Pal adapter $30 ,
a 110volt to 240volt converter $60 so essentially it cost the buyer $90 for a near mint FZ-10. That alone would have been $60 postage from Japan or the US (don't even get me started about Europe). So unfortunately it's all relative.

Prices are going up, even for FZ-10 without box.

They're definitely going up. I've been trying to get a decent replacement for my Goldstar unit that died some time ago, and I'm really surprised at how much some of them are going for.
