Heros of 3DO, c'mon name drop.

Right so, a quick roll call for anyone who has brushed againts anyone significant of in regards the company formally known as 3DO.

If you are one of those guys turn away now as gushing fanboys/fangirls profess their undying love.

Not counting ewhac who came here of his own accord. I love him.

My roll call.

Trip Hawkins. I wrote him a letter saying thanks, and he responded.
Ken Melville of Corpse Killer (he designed and wrote it) set me straight, and exchanged a few emails with me. A nice guy.
The guy who wrote Ice breaker had the arse with me
The guy who wrote Space Hulk was glad I liked the game.
The guy who wrote Pataank was fun.

... your turn. :)

I looooooove Space Hulk!

I've e-mailed Andy Looney, so only one.

I'm buddies with a guy who worked on Portal Runner. He is not proud of this.

I posted a question to Looney on the defunct 3DO Maniac forum (no replies sadly) I also shot him an invite to this forum (again, no reply sadly :( )

@3DOKid ... I'd love any tidbits you had on on of my favorite 3DO games, PaTaank.

The only bragging rights I have is that it was I who invited 3DO Exp to these forums. 8)

PaTaank featured the voice of a comedian who went by the name of Tree. I had actually seen him on a stand-up comedy show some time before playing the game, I think on MTV. He was gigantic, bald, and wore leather. Kind of a departure from what I was used to. I believe he also played the female gymnast from Zhadnost.

Don't interpret that the wrong way. He thought I was an idiot, and took offense at my complaints about Icebreaker I put on my blog. It was during my "Casual sucks" phase. I said nice things about Icebreaker 2 but to no avail... he was clearly mortally wounded.

most know this already, but here they are:

Alex Werner - developer support for Opera / M2 / IMSA Racing
had and have sporadic e-mail contact with him, since 2008

Phil Burk - NTG team and M2 Bulldog design team
I had a very nice e-mail contact with him. In 2007 he was in Germany, but I missed him. I think he is too busy, which is o.k.

Kevin Hester - M2 kernel guy
who helped me getting in contact with Alex Werner, contact in 2007 / 2008. Last one was in July 2010.

Ed Rotberg - only one mail, in 2008

and two others, which said they cannot help me with any further information

I also e-mailed a member of the team working that was working on a Top Gun game for the M2, again w/no reply.

@Vance, that's cool info, thanks.

Maybe I'll post my review of Icebreaker ...

Many of you already know I have had a number of correspondences with RJ and know that he does look at this forum from time to time as a result. I also have had contact with Mr Looney and he sent me a copy of the Icebreaker 2 beta as a result. There are a few others that are non 3do that I have semi regular contact with.

I interviewed Daniel Auld, who programmed 3DO stuff at Tose in Japan.
