...just a minute. Power Glove is a Cultural Icon? Stop kidding me. Seriously? Nooo. You're having me on right?

As for R.O.B. this always looked awesome. There was one in Gamestation here in Cambridge not so long ago, and I was sorely tempted. He is one of the the only two things I would get a NES for. The other being able to play Sweet Home the way it was intended. (On a NES, not an emulator!)

Do you know what the other 2 R.O.B. games were supposed to be?

^^ Wow, we've all gone WAY off topic, haven't we... not that I'm complaining, mind.
Anyway, Sega has had its own batch of revolutionary ideas that just couldn't hack it, not that it ever got them anywhere...
There was the Activator, for all it was worth... very interesting concept, 'cept the execution was all wrong.
There was also the Saturn's analog controller, probably the best analog controller on the market at the time, and the first to boot (it beat the PS1 analog controller to the market by a few months I think).
There was also a peripheral for the Genesis that was a WHOLE exercise bike, though it was only compatible with one game.

Sorry I don't. I believe I read it in Nintendo Power but it would take me forever to track it down.

Yep they came up with doing it for a console and Sony & Nintendo ripped them right off.

It was actually a third party developed machine, they made them for the SNES as well.

You mean this analogue controller? it wasn't a major triumph.

I got mine in a Nights into Dreams bundle.

Yeah, nor was the Saturn in the US (I'm assuming England, too?).

I found it quite comfortable for what it was (it was my main controller for a while there towards the end of the '90s), but I found it funny that developers couldn't support it *entirely* properly. In Quake, for instance, you ran faster on the analog stick than you did when you used the d-pad. Strange.

Never got my 32X to run. I have every cable, everything - but I hear only music / sound and see the background of the menue / tracks. I have Metalhead, virtua racing deluxe. And I was so after Metalhead. Remember the first screenshots in 1993, german video games mag.

They modeled the Dreamcast controller after that Saturn one. Classic!

That means you simply have it hooked up incorrectly. Your 32X should be fine. :)

I too liked both the Saturn and Dreamcast controllers. I don't really get why so many people hate the DC ones, the SS I can understand. Many consider the non-analog stick SS to be the best controller to boot and although I don't feel the same I understand that pov as well.

The analog/d-pad setup on the Dreamcast controller made messing with the camera in the middle of the action a contortionist act. Extremely poor placement.

Yes the DC controller was one of the best, but they could have just taken the SS "Model 2" controller, stuck a thumb pad where the D-pad is, and called it a day.

Err.. Then where would the d-pad go?

That probably would have been seen as a cheap way of doing things.
