Nice find! I don't think these have been posted before. Nice to have a three page article.

I may try to track down a physical copy of the mag. D2 for M2 has always been facinating to me. Man I wish it would leak if it even exists

Late 90ies: I and my best friend returned from the open-air bath one summer day. I bought a german videogames magazine and found a small picture showing the figure above with the sword. We both thought: "Wow, when is it going to come out." After that we continued playing the first WipEout and Twisted Metal World Tour. But I never forgot the screenshot. He never bought a Dreamcast, but I showed him D2. And we both remembered the screenshot "Nah, it's not the same." And thanks for the scans awbacon.

I guess they figured that "Starfighter 6000" would have sounded a little silly.

I think I may be the only white person ever to have actually played the beginning of D2. My buddy Hiro H was the lead programmer on it.
The game opened with a cinematic sequence where the heroine was on an airliner that crashed after getting hit by lightning. Upon crash landing, a bunch of the other people on the plane acquired a non-specific infection... the stewardesses heads and eyes peeled off and legs sprouted out of their backs and they became these sprawling spider-like attack things. Same thing in the interactive sequence...
Disturbing stuff... may have influenced some of my later work on Silent Hill.

It's amazing I survived without these scans. Thanks a million for this tragically lost piece of history!
