Ok 3DO fans, what is this... (Part 3, with prize)
It's that time again.
Time to test your 3DO knowledge. (By defiinition, Lightning is therefore disqualified )
Joking aside, with the Holiday season upon us, I thought we could have a little fun trying to deduce what it is that is pictured in the first image below, and I do not mean the Policenauts game.
Rather, the larger of the two items in the brown box. The Policenauts game is there for two reasons.
1. To give a size reference to the mystery item.
2. It is the prize to be awarded to the first person to name the mystery item correctly.
Now then, a few pieces of information to go along with the pictures.
1. The big brown box is the official box that the mystery item was packaged in.
2. The mystery item was officially made for the 3DO system.
3. It is a piece of hardware that plugs into the 3DO system.
4. This item was briefly advertised in some Japanese 3DO literature.
5. To my knowledge, this item has never before been discussed on this forum.
6. That's it for now...
Rules:
1. One guess per round per person.
2. After each round of guesses, if no one is correct, an additional piece of information will be appended to the first post and a new round of guessing can begin.
Here is the picture of the mystery item:
Here are some pictures of the prize. Unfortunately, the case is cracked on the side. However, both of the disks are pretty much mint without any scratches.
I will pay to have the game shipped to whatever address the winner provides me with (so hopefully the person who wins lives in the States LOL).

Hmm, Wild guess mode.
Some sort of protective case for the 3DO console.

Well, Lemmi was close.
I want to wait for Pitsunami to give it a go and maybe a couple of others and then I'll update the info.
By the way, I can probably find another game to substitute for Policenauts for people like 3DO Experience who already have the game.

That's not true . You saw a couple of my units here:

I have a boxed one too. I'll throw some pictures up one of these days.

BTW, the box is too big for Robo-unit or any other M2 devices. It looks like box for TV or CRT-monitor or ... some peripheral =)
No. Steering wheel box is not so big.mattyg wrote:Steering wheel?

Also, the steering wheel for the 3DO was not made by Panasonic.
I'll throw another piece of information up in a few hours.

I thought it might be something related to the prize like a game gun or something, but this only occurred with the Sega Saturn version of this game (according to Wikipedia )
If it is something electrical then chances are quarter to half the volume of the box is protective padding or styrofoam, which makes the item much smaller than the box
I was going to go weird and say something bizarre like a box of Panasonic 3do branded t-shirts, but instead I will go for a console stand, maybe with a cooling fan.

Maybe it's a kind of audio system for use with Karaoke unit.
EDITED:
Oh, NOOO! I'm fool!
Just thought, that all official 3DO Panasonic peripherals (mostly japanese) was separated by colors.
Red: control pad (FZ-JP1X), digital stick controller;
Light green, green: mouse, memory unit;
Light blue, blue: video adapter;
Purple: karaoke mixer.
