Good article!

I think Next Gen was pretty spot on not just w/its questions, but w/its admissions. 3DO was the hottest game machine & biggest bang for your gaming buck during this time. It is easy to forget all these years later, especially since this window was so short, but from late 94 to mid 95 3DO was the console to own.

The questions too showed forsight (doubting the market could support 4 consoles, wondering if 3DO was giving "free" lessons for future systems, etc ...

And Trip was pretty funny (and accurate) w/much of the competition at the time. Games certainly weren't the cd-i's forte, Atari was pretty much done, the 32X was a stopgap, the N64 was delayed, etc...

I also liked reading how a 3DO II, sepearte from the M2, was planned, and Trip likening 3DO to the bubonic plague.

Thanks for posting. :)

You're welcome! I'll tell you all where I got it: Retromags.com. They have a massive amount of magazines scanned into their database, ready for people to download. I'm currently looking for more 3DO articles, especially anything on the M2.

edit: here's one more article from the same mag:

Talking about Trip; do any of you remember his quote saying the PS2 was as revolutionary as the printing press?

I remember that he was quoted in the official playstation mag.

I'll try to dig up that page since I'm pretty sure I have that magazine somewhere

EDIT: Here it is

He has a knack for over exhaggeration. But in my case, people in glass houses... et cetera.
