FZ-1 or FZ-10

Post by Lightning » Thu Nov 25, 2010 3:51 am

I'm considering getting a 3DO Interactive Multiplayer, but there are two different models, the FZ-1 and the FZ-10. The FZ-1 looks like it's the default model, but the FZ-10 is most likely more technologically advanced, based on it's name. What's the difference between the two? Which is more powerful? And which do you recommend?

FZ-1 = http://amzn.to/eAdEr9
FZ-10 = http://amzn.to/gCQqCW

FZ-10 is ten times more powerful, hence the "10" in its designation.

I'd say FZ-1 since the FZ-10 has a tendency to overheat due to the fact that it's (too) powerful.

Yeah you can't count the Goldstar, Sanyo, LG, Robo ect. as true 3DOs since they aren't made by Panasonic.

I have FZ-01, FZ-10, Goldstar, Sanyo TRY and personally prefer the FZ-01 due to the quality of the build.

This is true, but you also have to factor in the fact that due to its being so powerful it has the much vaunted "forward compatibility" - meaning it can play X-Box and PS-2 games.

Even I am shocked at the responses in this thread. We lambast poor lightning for not being 3do related or game related, and when he does, he gets this from you meanies.

Lightning, the FZ1 is the superior machine.

The F stands for 'from' and the Z stands for "zenomorphs". 1 means it was their number 1 technology. There is a small museum in Roswell New Mexico where they captured the original. The FZ10 was the Zenomorphs 10th best technology, which I think was some kind of vacuum cleaner. Bitrate has 2 gold ones handed to him by their many armed, many breasted god who also posts on here.

Anyway, didn't we ban you?

This thread is awesome.

Asides from that, I prefer the FZ-10.. But, if you are the type to have every system under the sun hooked up to your television, the FZ-1 is much more convenient, as you can stack other systems on top of it. It wins just for that.

It's more about Destiny now. Besides, didn't Lightning get banned?

FZ-1. Even though it doesn't have a built-in memory manager, it looks the best of all the 3DOs and has a drive tray instead of being an ugly (and inconvenient if it's in a shelf) top-loader. 8)

EDIT: The FZ-1 does have a memory manager without booting a disc, if you have the VideoCD module.

I just lost a decent looking FZ-1 bundle on eBay so I am officially boycotting it right now.

I voted for the FZ-10... even thought aesthetically I much prefer the FZ-1. The FZ-1 is easily one of the best looking consoles of all time.

The pads on the FZ-10 (at least the Jap ones I have) are much better as is the built in memory manager and as other have said the top loading nature of the FZ-10 will last a lot longer.

I agree with this. Most consoles, particularly the modern ones, are amazingly ugly. The FZ1 still looks modern and quite cool.

I am glad that I am not the only one who thinks the FZ-1 is more aesthetically pleasing. I also agree that even today the FZ-1 looks a lot better than the consoles today.

I have always like the FZ-1 better than the FZ-10, even thought the latter is considered more durable.
