Telegames ripped me off. (Read it here)

Post by 3DOKid » Tue Jun 30, 2009 11:49 pm

Long story short.

I ordered a copy of Towers II from Telegames (THAT'S TELEGAMES, TELEGAMES GOOGLE SEARCH ENGINE CAN YOU HEAR ME?) via Amazon in February 2008. After much questioning, promises of delivery, what turned out to be lies and deceit, and after 7 months, at the end of August 2008 Telegames said, ooh we sent to you back in February, oh-well, too late to do anything now.

I've been stewing on this for sometime. It's just £25 but, you know what? It's the principle.

F**k'em lying b'tards.

Hi

Apologies for the delay in despatching your order - as you may know we manufacture these items ourselves but are currently out of stock. This is our error of course but we are currently in the middle of the manufacturing process so it will be another eight weeks before this item can be sent to you.

If you are willing to wait you will receive it at the price you paid (we are raising it to £69.99 for the next batch). Let us know if this is acceptable ASAP.

Regards

Hi

Apologies for lack of news, we have several other customers also waiting for the same item. As you know we manufacture this game but the delivery is a few weeks behind schedule - expected now towards end of May.

Apologies again for delay.

5 months after placing the order, I then moved house. I thought it best to tell Telegames.

Hi there,

I was living in the Ely address in February. I had an email from telegames stating that there was some problem with manufacturing the cart and they were being shipped later. In June this year, when I still lived at the Ely address, I was told that manufacturing process had been resolved, and the cart was being shipped in the next 10 days.

The details of this are in the messages below.

kind regards,

Will

I love how they thought (at least it seems this way) that they were going to have an easy out by saying that they mailed to the address you moved from without knowing that you were still living there in Feb. :x

Arrgg... ok, I have never ordered from Telegames, and at this point (since I bought Worms and Towers 2 from Songbird) I will never have to.

Thank you Telegames for getting a good handful of games to us, but that is about as far as my thanks goes.

Ah Yes, Telegames, the one time last bastion of Jaguar games. These guys have to be one of the worst companies out there. I have heard more horror stories about this one company than any other out there. They are way over priced and constantly lie to the public. My biggest scam from them? Check out the "Limited Edition" Iron Soldier 2 cart that they never seem to run out of or the always out of stock Towers II and Worms just to "Magically" find another batch that they can sell for $100.00 due to demand. It's really sad too that Towers II and Breakout 2000 just had to be published by these assclowns!

They were great in, what, '96 or '97 when they originally published these games. Now? Eh.. No thanks.

Yeah the whole Worms carts that they keep managing to "find" in a box somewhere really pisses me off. I still want one but I am not buying overpriced carts that I know they are BSing about the number that they have.

I have it on PC.... somewhere. I'll prob just get the Saturn one, but my Jag feels so unplayed I want more games that I'd play or often. And I still haven't found my carts!

I haven't been actively looking everyday. I remember placing the case I had them in somewhere it wouldn't fall and would be safe. So I know they are well protected from damage... and well protected from being found. LOL

Man is this the SEARS tele games? They made knockoff consoles by getting rights from Atari and Mattel, but if this is just an amazon user, you should report him or something.

Telegames is a company that deals in publishing as well as distribution (if I remember correctly). Their US branch no longer sells games to the public (they used to have a web store), but I believe the UK branch is still open for usual, non-wholesale business.

3DOKid is talking about the UK branch.

If I recall correctly, the US branch was mowed down by a tornado, and that's when they stopped selling to the public (they lost their stock).

I don't know if the Telegames we know today is or was ever linked to the Sears Tele Games brand.

US site: http://www.telegames.com/

PS, this thread is two years old.

Telegames is completely different from the old hyphenated Tele-games from Sears. But I let the US dealers like B&C and Songbird deal with Telegames and I just buy from them when they are in stock.

That's good. But I've noticed that Telegames seems to release a batch about once or twice a year for all the Jaguar games, and the Jag dealers usually get a few copies in too. So, i think if you happen to order from Telegames after they ran out of stock from the latest run, you may be waiting six months or more for the next run to receive the game. They build up orders from users and dealers and when it reaches what ever critical mass is for them plus a few for their own store, they make another run.

Songbird still gets batches of games from them.
What came after the Jaguar was the PS1 which for all it's greatness, ushered in corporate development and with it the bleached, repetitive, bland titles which for the most part we're still playing today. - David Wightman
