OLDERGAMES.COM ANNOUNCES FOUR NEW 3DO GAMES FOR CGE2K7!!!

Post by OlderGames » Thu Jun 14, 2007 2:08 am

Hello,

I thought it was going to take forever to finalize the last few bits on
our new releases but it is done, ready, and we are happy to announce
our biggest year yet in supporting our friends at the Classic Gaming Expo!

Eight brand new titles will be released at the show, check out the article
for yourself and prepare to be a little surprised... I don't think anyone,
myself included could predict this was all coming!

http://www.oldergames.knurdz.com/news.php?aid=10

As before: pre-ordering is available but limited on some titles
due to the low production runs. Thanks to everyone for their
support! We are now on hiatus until July and we will see you
at the show! :)

I've spent hundreds (at least!) on grabbing all the 3DO titles I can get my hands on from ebay, so the least I can do is support a company like yourself putting out new titles. So I've ordered the 4 new games, and look forward to them, keep it up!

Hello,

Thank you for your support and your business.
Your order will ship the week we return from CGE
unless you are able to pick up your copy in person
at the show. :)

Played a little of IceBreaker 2 which was a nice game. It seems eons ago that Onside Soccer was previewed at a CGEXPO of years gone. From what I recall it was decent enough and fully playable. Now Powerslide, that was scheduled for SuperFX treatment via the Super Nintendo but like so many super charged SNES games was canceled during the consoles later years. Remember an article on this game with the developers hyping up the 'realism' of the cars dynamics. In retrospect that 'hype' is really funny and is so obviously BS when compared to the games of today! I'd be interested to know just how complete this prototype is after writing a previous article on SuperFX games, quite curious.

11 years of waiting finally over

Post by fish » Thu Jun 14, 2007 10:38 pm

Unbelievable!!! This news is beyond my wildest dreams for the 3do, who would have thought that 2007 would bring 4 new games for it!!! Onside is the pick of the bunch for me, I remember waiting and waiting for that one, until it disappeared off 3DO magazine's Coming Soon list. Credit to Older Game for making this happen, great work guys. 3DO: 1993 - 1996; 2007...

The CDI collective is down? I went looking for snapshots of Powerslide and ... 'tis dead.

Anyway - Girs site has a number of betas that might be rich for the release schedule!

Hmm.

The Collective is down? Seems to work ok to me :-)

3DO Collective

Check out the PROTOS & BETAS section for POWERSLIDE. I would be intrested to see if they got it working beyond the very early beta stage.

We got the lastest build Elite did before canning the project.
It's playable but still not complete.

It's about %90 I'd guess. Most of it works solid but there are
some extra tweaks and dynamics I feel would make it better.

I'm still waiting on the screens from John. We should get them
sometime today or tomorrow... John has a habit of taking his time
on these things.

I bought copies. I couldn't possibly expect to get freebies.

However - I do expect to get them early so I can get them on the ol' 3DO blog before anyone else plays....!

I bought 4 copies (or was it 5?) of the limited edition one ;) (all in a good cause - but it's so secret, I'd have to kill you all!)

What do you say Oldergames guy? Ship my copies early? :) [/hope]

We will do what we can although it will still be very close to the release
as we are timing it with Elite and can't break street dates.

I did find out that Powerslide has wheels but they appear not to be there.
The best way to describe it is that the view is behind the vehicle and when
you turn or loose control you can make out wheels but the cars are a
typical box-like 3D object that you'd expect from this generation of 3D
rendering... Now you have me totally combing over the graphics... LOL

As we've said all along Powerslide is not complete, Decathlon is near
final as is PS BUT... IB2 and OnSide are near perfect.

I just got some gameplay footage today and will YouTube it later
this afternoon for everyone. You need to understand that although
Onside and IB2 are pretty much gold, and Decathlon is very close to
%100 complete that Powerslide is not. I'm guessing around %90.

When you play it I think you will understand that will a little tweaking to
the physics and graphics it would have been there. Try not to over hype
Powerslide, I know everyone is excited but if you are expecting this
game to be everything they once said it would have been you are
setting yourselves up for a major disappointment.

My major peeve's with Powerslide are the controls and the field of
view in rendering the track. In the attract mode before pressing
start everything looks fantastic but in the game the field of view is
very drastically cut. It is the last build Elite had of the game and
is, barring these few things I have pointed out, otherwise near
final.

Now I know this sounds like I'm bashing our own products, but
what I am attempting to do here is bring a realistic and critical
view of the game so you all know what to expect.

In short: Decathlon is fantastic and mostly final, IB2 is gold other
than the levels at the end of the grid Andy Looney didn't add and
%100 bug free, Onside's title screen reads... and this gives me a
chuckle every time I play it: "Yes my dear, it's onside! Now with
no bugs!", but Powerslide is very difficult to play because the
physics needed additional tuning and the graphics could have been
much better.

Hopefully this message and the videos will clarify everything. :)
