The game that got canceled!
Of all the 3DO games that were supposed to release but got canceled, which was the one that really pissed you off because you were looking forward to it? For me, it was Water World. Mind you, looking at the other releases of the game and seeing what it was, this may not have been a bad thing, but the game looked so promising and really might have pushed the 3DO as a system as far as I can tell with the demo that released. It made me want to play it. Blood Omen Legacy Of Kain is an easy second. That game alone would have helped the 3DO as the system was lacking these kinds of games.
This is a stick up! Put all of your 3DO games in the bag and nobody gets hurt!

Funny thing is that MK 3 was also killed for the Jaguar, and it actually had quite a bit of work done on the project. I remember playing the beta for it at the E3. I still do not understand why it was canceled for either system.bitrate wrote:For me it would have to be Star Trek A World for all Seasons and I also would have liked to see MK III.

Frankenstein : Through the Eyes of the Monster was supposed to have been released too. I've seen a Zork game listing for 3DO on ebay, but it turns out to be a PhotoCD adventure, not RETURN TO ZORK.

I agree w/many of the above posts (Star Trek, NHL, Water World)
Some games that I miss that weren't mentioned ....
-Deulin Firemen (sounded so crazy)
-Prowler (Electronic Arts ... need I say more?)
-Cyber Clash (Crystal Dynamics ... need I say more?)
-Silly Classix (Video Act V ... need I say more ... wait a min )
-Olympic Basketball (We got soccer & summer games ... why not the complete trilogy?)
-Rayman (Eventually bought it for the Jag, but would have loved a 3DO version w/cd audio!)
Also, anyone remeber the 3DO glove from the '95 CES? That looked cool ... the next generation of the Power Glove!

3DO glove? Funny, I actually never saw that one. As for Rayman, well, you do know that the game was actually originally built on the Jaguar hardware? This is why the game is the best on that system. It has more frames of animation and cleaner graphic than even the Saturn version, not to mention the pathetic Playstation version with it's crazy load times and 35% of the animation gone. Just my two cents.

I'll see if I can scan a picture of it. I remember 3 magazine doing a brief preview of it in their coverage of the '95 CES.3DO glove? Funny, I actually never saw that one.
Does anyone know what happened to ISIS? It was among the fairly prominent 3DO advertised games. I remember seeing ads for it for months (late '95-through mid '96)

Re: The game that got canceled!
I've often thought of bumping this topic. It's a good thread which keeps popping up in my forum searches. This time I found it because I'd just learned that 3DO and 32X versions of Rayman had been in the works. Aside from making one pleasantly dream of what might have been, it makes you realize just how lucky Jaguar fans were to get the game. Probably only the fact that so much work on the Jaguar version had already been done ensured that it got a release.
Cyberclash is definitely the one I miss the most. A Crystal Dynamics game... frickin' Crystal Dynamics! And both the concept and the early screenshots seen in magazines make it seem like it would have been one of their more impressive games. What really kills me is that it was cancelled entirely. If they had brought it to the Saturn (which would have made sense given when the game was being developed) I'd have been perfectly happy. Heck, I'd even settle for it being a PlayStation exclusive. Why did they have to throw all that work down the drain?
Looking over Gir Draxa's list is fascinating. So Deadly Skies was cancelled for 3DO too? Seems that game was cancelled for just about every platform in existence at the time. At this point I don't know if even hearing Deadly Skies had been in the works for the LaserActive would surprise me.
Alone in the Dark III is the one that really took me aback. Given that the game never got a console port, it's startling to learn that at some point someone thought making one would be worthwhile. It's a shame we never got it. Being able to play all three games built on the original Alone in the Dark engine on a single console would have been a treat.

Re: The game that got canceled!
Yeah, that's an amazing list that Gir Draxa posted. I wish I had a translation of the Japanese half of it.
It's so strange seeing oodles of unreleased/canceled games, and then right in the middle is Robinson's Requiem, which did come out.
Would've been nice if Kingdom II had made it to the 3DO -- how disappointing it would have been to miss out on half the story! -- but at least we have it on computers and the CD-i.

A Doom II port given enough time would have been restored the faith lost with the first one.
In fact, they should have released the Doom trilogy (ultimate doom, doom 2 and the master levels).
It wasn't planed, but I would love to see Tomb Raider running in the 3DO, it's a pity that given the short lifespan of the machine 3D games released were all so primitive.
