3do Joypads - terrible or just old?

Post by thornton_s » Mon Oct 22, 2007 10:14 am

Looking for some advice with 3do joypads. I have recently gotten back into the 3do and have purchased a few (too many) consoles and about a dozen pads. Now i don't know if i have just gotten lazy with using analogue sticks but the d pads are terrible, they are stiff and difficult to use(found the ps1 the same as well), is this wear and tear or were they always this bad. I also have some fz-10 joypads which are a little better and some sealed 3do speedpads which i have not opened yet.

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a good pad as these are just torture and are putting me off playing a number of games. (i remember having a Goldstar pad a long time ago and i think they were pretty good).

Im no expert but I believe there are adaptors available on the net that let you use SNES pads with your 3do.

They might be poo.

But they are around, Im sure someone else has more info on them.

the goldstar controller has been the one ive used since 1997, mainly because it feels like the Genesis controller, another fav controller of mine

i am just the opposite, i dont care for Analog sticks :)

I have just been testing my PS1/2 adaptors as they arrived this morning and although they are a bit cheaply put together they are great, i cannot tell you how good it is to play Wolfenstein 3D with the analogue stick, even phoenix 3 is no longer a thumb breaking exercise, very nice.

Yeah 3do d-pads are crap. The Goldstar one is comfortable but not too responsive. The Panasonic one is not very comfortable but a little more responsive.

http://www.tototek.com/

Don't expect any confirmation emails, i thought i was getting ripped off for a week, then it appeared on the order tracker and was very impressed with the delivery time, they also do them for many other consoles (I have 2 Neo Geo ones if anybody knows anyone who would be interested).

Simply click on hardware, then scroll down (or search for 3do).

Isn't there a joystick for the 3do? I would love to be able to play Street fighter 2 and captain Quazar with one.

I have a pretty decent third party pad for Street Fighter, it's an Interact Performance. The only flaw with the pad is it lacks the headphone jack found on the standard pads.
