Fighting Game Bliss for the 3DO?
So, I am into the fighting genre, and have to say that the 3DO scared me where fighting games were concerned. Not much in the way of amazing stuff there, but what was the best, in your opinion?
This is a stick up! Put all of your 3DO games in the bag and nobody gets hurt!

I voted for Samurai Shodown but it's pretty close with Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo.
Way of the Warrior was horrid. Rise of the Robots and Shadow: War of Succession although I haven't personally played I've only heard horrid things about them.

i voted for Super Street Fighter II Turbo , just because im not into fighters much
Samurai Shodown - i never played
Shadow: War Of Succession - i never played
Way Of The Warrior played but wish i didnt play
Rise Of The Robots - played but hated it
Ballz The Directors Cut - i liked this one, but not as much as SSF2
the only other fighters i can stand is on the Dreamcast/Saturn and its Vampire Chronicles, or Heavy Metal : Geomatrix
Saturn is Super Street Fighter the Movie (i know im gonna get it for this, as i always do)

Did you see the big thread over at the Shoryuken forums that was posted by one of the developers of Street Fighter: The Movie: The Arcade Game? It was a great read -- and you might appreciate it even more, since you actually liked the game!Lemmi wrote: Saturn is Super Street Fighter the Movie (i know im gonna get it for this, as i always do)

Anyway, I'm abstaining from voting here because I haven't played any of the 3DO versions. But that said, has anyone played both the 3DO version of SSFIIT and the Saturn version that was in Street Fighter Collection? I honestly can't imagine that port being beat, but you never know.

this is what happens with fragmented sub-forums. In my view, this has not a lot to do with reviewing a title. >>>>> so this should go in the general 3do forum....
The same counts for the discussion in the review threads. It's great, nothing about that, but i feel it's blurring the specific type of sub-forum here. Discussion> main 3do forum.
Am I the only one who thinks like that? I'd prefer (if you want a dedicated review section) to only post your reviews here, and start the discussion in the main forum.....

Yes actually, I think it would be good to have the reviews seperate and for any comments on them to be elsewhere. If someone feels really strongly about a title, than maybe they could post a 2nd opinion review.
I suggested in my earleir post to move this thread to the general forum, as it is not a review. Easy fix I'm sure though.

Some of the best Fighting on the 3DO is available on import.
Sailor Moon S is damn good. As is Yu Yu hashuko and Ultraman is, well, bold if nothing else. You should also include N.O.B. too. It's doom meets Street fighter.
That said - Street Fighter II turbo is the best. With Sailor Moon and S Shodown joint second.
3DO Kid.

Here's a bit of fun for you.
For those who really have time on their hands and want to mess with a game. Grab ULTRA-EDIT 32 and load in a CD image of SHADOW. The button moves are actually written out in basic and really easy to change once you locate the files.
If one were building your own custom image of the game from scratch, inserting your own ANIM files into the file would be pretty easy too as the engine is very simplistic and unrefined at best. Though it might be the easiest way you'll see people make their own fighting games for 3DO. So, its simple, find an ANIM file maker, unpack the image file, insert new ANIME image files, rebuild your image, encrypt your disc to boot on 3DO, and bam... you got a new game. After that, its time to do something a little easier... like eat the sun. LOL.
Well, thats me just blue skying about a bad game.

I know this thread is well over a year old, but w/all the new members that have joined since then I figured that maybe they'd want to vote.
Since this first posted I've picked up Sailor Moon, Yu Yu & Ultraman (no NOB yet) Of the 3, Ultraman is easily my fav, but all 3 are solid enough to be worth owning. Some of the best Fighting on the 3DO is available on import.

Trev, mate, I'm worried about you. First Way of the Warrior, now Ultraman? You haven't got all the cases and CDs muddled up have you? I'm happy to help you sort them out if you have, but this madness has to stop. Do you understand?

Um, I'm not quite sure I know what you mean buddy ... I don't deny my fondness for Ultraman, but you do realize I share your dislike of WOTW don't you ...?Trev, mate, I'm worried about you. I guess you could "help" me by sending me N.O.B. though. Then I'll have all the imports you mentioned in this thread.

N.O.B. is a cool little game. A bitch to find, but worth the chase.Trev wrote:Um, I'm not quite sure I know what you mean buddy ...
