3DO vs ???

Post by 3DOKid » Mon Sep 08, 2008 7:07 am

3DO, was it better or worse than PS1, Saturn, N64, CD32, Pippin, 32X, Jaguar or CDI? Which consoles appealed to you in what order.

Here is my honest opinion.

1) PS1
2) Saturn
3) 3DO
4) Jaguar
5) 32X
6) N64
7) CDi (sorry Devin)

This is just a lust list. The PS1 was sold hard in the UK. Let's see you lust lists :)

my list is based on gameplay value

2 N64
3 3do
4 saturn
5 cd32
6 jag
7 cdi
8 32x

Neo Geo would've slotted in between 3do and saturn

If we can go outside the list but stay below 64 bit, then my lust list reads as
1) 3DO
2) Neo Geo CD :D
3) Saturn :)
4) PSX/PSone :|

Although aware of the others I haven't sought them as a possession, but if pressed for a ranking I would go....

5)Jaguar :|
6)N64 :|
7)CDi :|
8)32X
=9)Pippen or CD32 :?

Debate time!

I think I had the most fun over the years playing my NES. That's no joke. I have to stick up for the NES!

Well since it is now no holds barred... :D

1. SNES: EPIC
2. Playstation (I'll include 1&2): Many many great games
3. X-Box: Emulation of Playstation isn't a bad thing...
4. N64: Quality of quantity
5. 3do: Great games, great quality, ahead of its time
6. Gamecube: N64 vibe here...
7. NES (its blasphemy, I know ;): I love the NES but I think as stuff comes along it does get better, mostly.
8. Nintendo DS: Innovation, great games and shovelware!
9. Genesis: Sonic nuff said!
10. Gameboy: Battery life FTW!

*slaps you in the face!*

I was sticking to the original 7 listed in OP, but for all systems the NES is the best.

This thread could quickly get out of control w/some of the obscure systems collectors like us are sure to have. The Apple Pippin? How about the Supergrafx from NEC?

Anyway this topic would take more thought than I can invest at the moment but, based purely on # of games my list would read as such ...

3DO
Gamecube
Nes
Dreamcast

Actually, the top 2 are probably right. Gotta give more thought on the rest. Can combo systems count? If so I'd throw the cdx in my list somewhere.

To be continued ...

You're just jealous cos the games machines you had were missing the feature of colour clash :)

Colour clash on the speccy is precisely why jaggies, tearing etc., don't bother me. If you can forgive that - you can forgive anything.

And anyway - I played my Speccy on a black-and-white TV. This is why I never had a c64. To me the Spectrum, with it's larger sprites, was nearly arcade perfect, whereas the c64 had grubby little cuboid sprites, that clearly belonged on an inferior device.

Try to picture my horror when I sneaked my beloved Spec-chum downstairs and plugged it into my mum and dads mighty colour TV! Blinded I was, blinded by the sight.

The way I look at it is there are some great systems, BUT I think personally Jaguar and 3DO are both highly under rated.

I had the Jag only hooked up and not long ago I set up one of my 3DO systems. There are alot of great games on both systems (again, personal) and I feel both got shafted too soon.

Also, I think alot of "haters" out there should keep their mouths shut...and the wanna-be haters should grow up.

Just cause a system didn't go over too well with the masses doesn't mean it's horrible at all.
