DS back-ups

Post by 3DO Experience » Sun Dec 21, 2008 6:43 pm

My best friend and I celebrate x-mas early on her b-day because it's so close to x-mas. We both ended up buying each other DS lites. I was disappointed to find out you can play GBA games but not GB & GBColor games.

I want to use one of those back-up units that lets you put Game Boy games on a DS RAM card but I've seen so many and so few of them have detailed descriptions as to what you can do with them.

Does anyone have experience with these and have a suggestion?

PS. I've seen a few MagicKey versions but don't even know if you can put the old games on it. Plus I'd like to be able to copy the games I have rather than download ROMs.
"Wait. You don't have a bag of charcoal in your gaming room???"

There is a decent GBC/GB emulator for the DS. I haven't been in the DS scene in years though as the PSP 2000 Made DS pretty much obsolete for me. The R4 was the card to have back in the day, but I'm sure that has changed by now.

And about the copying the games you have now, I'm not sure what would be best for that. I just mainly used my R4 for homebrew and roms.

If all you want to do is play your real GB/GBC games, why not pick up a cheap GBC? You'd probably spend less on a GBC than a whole flash cart setup.

Because I want to carry just one system, I have every Nintendo portable they made; except that yucky micro. I have seen a youtube vid with someone using the R4 but I don't seem to find it for sale anywhere, or even the specs on it. I kinda could use a copier too as I have some games I doubt there are ROMs floating around for.

Trust me, if it's a retail game, there is a rom. haha.

Even if there is, I don't know all the names of what I have. That's the issue with some Japanese games.

Ah. I'm sure something exists to back them up. Just not sure what.

be careful - I believe Nintendo are pursuing legal action against the manufacturers , sites and even you tube demos of the setup

Sounds like your ticket, although you'll need a flash card to do it.

Looks good, but I need to backup my Game Boy & Game Boy Color games, so I can play them on my DS.
