I've got 1 question, bitrate. How much information are there on this CD? Is there really all the animation/art/music/code to make it a workable game? Even if it'd be a beta of an alpha version)

Just what we need: Another forum full of morons that steal other people's pictures from various websites, removing watermarks and don't state the source.

I would ask you to take your words back. We are not making such things. We are not morons. We are not using other people's pictures or whatever without permission and give information about our sources. We are making our own data, OK? Such as reviews, or walkthroughs, or pictures. There are no reasons to be so agressive.

I'm going to make these disks a Christmas release for the 3DO and UMK-3 fans.

There isn't a lot of data, but if memory serves, there are some image files on the CD and some C code on the 3 1/2's.

In the next couple of weeks I'll gather the files together from the CD and floppies and upload them to MediaFire.
When it's ready to go I'll post a link here.

I appreciate the kind words guys/gals.

I'm going to scan in some of the documentation I have about the game as well.
Some of the memo's between Panasonic and the developer are interesting. It is very clear that Panasonic was getting extremely frustrated with the team handling the port when deadline after deadline was being missed.

Here are a couple of pages taken from an internal Panasonic memo that convey some of the frustration.

Keep in mind that this memo was written months after development on the game was supposed to have been well underway.
Percentage wise, almost a whopping 30% of the expected development cycle had been squandered up to that point :!:

Here is the data I obtained from the Unreleased 3DO Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 - Art Elements disk and 3.5 floppies.

Please do not get too excited :-), there is a very limited amount of data here.

----------

I have uploaded the Art Elements disk image first (Mac Format - Photoshop 3.0.4, Illustrator 5.5). The source code will follow shortly.

Thats cool, since adobe products were used, perhaps you have the original adobe files? That would be neat.

I read that UMK3 was going to be ported to the 3DO back in the day...

I also remember reading about MK2 being ported to the PS1, but was never completed (although I did find an ISO of MK2 for the PS1).

Too bad the only thing that MK suffered back then on the CD consoles, were the loading time when you played as Shang Tsung, and morphed into a different fighter. Too bad they didn't have enough memory to just buffer all of Shang Tsungs moves instead of interrupting the game when a player morphed into a different fighter.

It was completed. It was only released in Japan though. I've heard it's the same game as the poorly-translated US Saturn version.

Luckily for me I never really liked any MK game. SF2 was on the 3DO and that was all I needed. ;) [cough]

That said, I could never get any finishing moves out of MK. I used to quite enjoy Scorpians 'get over here' move and I think Sub Zero had the same kind of move with ice, but I used to get ever so angry stood next to a tottering enemy, just begging for me to rip his spine out, and never quite managing it.

Thank you for this! This is very cool stuff.

I was getting a little too excited! I thought that might contain all the sprites and backgrounds... but it seems to just be the logos and the Sega Saturn(!!!) box shots.

Still, very very cool - thank you so much for sharing this with us!

Thanks bitrate!

It's so odd... some of these sources are copyright Sony (with Japanese comments!) and labeled "psx"... Saturn images and psx code! Whatever next?

That said.. anyone good enough with C to try and put this all together? We don't have any of the assets but presumably these could be ripped from the Saturn version?

<edit>
Looks to me like all the C code is for the PSX version of MK3 (not UMK3) and that it has nothing 3DO specific... I think!

Still really awesome - thanks again bitrate!

I am curious as to the contents of the ISO. How would I go about extracting the contents since if it is a MAC disc, daemon tools can't really work with the ISO.

At least I assume it is a mac ISO, since it is not a 3DO ISO since uncdrom cannot find any sectors to extract:

I added file extension to the files too so windoze would know what do do with them (assuming you have software to handle tiff, psd and eps).

Karny: Thank you very much! :D

-edit

I have yet to find an ACTUAL working plugin that lets me open and manipulate .eps (encapsulated post script files) for GIMP, but GIMP opens PSD (Photoshop) files just fine, as well as .tiff ;)

--edit2

I also have yet to find a corel draw plugin that works under GIMP (for .CDR files).

Then I could finally open these files as well:

http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/logo/electronic-arts (.eps)
http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/logo/3do (.eps)
http://www.brandsoftheworld.com/logo/playstation (.cdr)

;)

---edit 3

Odd thing is, I can open the tiff and psd files under the UMK3_art folder, but in the __MACOSX\UMK3_art folder, I can't even open the tiff or PSD files under gimp....Weird, I guess it is a different format? *shrug*

Wow, reading all of this really has caught me off guard! It is amazing to see how Williams shafted both the 3DO and Jaguar as far as ports for MK3 go. Interesting to see that development of the Jaguar game was much further along though but yet you can find the source code and artwork for the 3DO version and the Jaguar stuff is just gone. Very cool find guys and it is nice to at least have this stuff still around to see that it was actually into some kind of development.
This is a stick up! Put all of your 3DO games in the bag and nobody gets hurt!
