I've had an idea.

I'm going to create a sticky or a seperate forum for every console prior to the Xbox360, and after the CDi, where people can recommend a game.

What I'd like it to be, is us, the 3DO collective on here, just a way of saying: "I've just been playing this, you guys might like it too."

We're all pretty savvy, so I don't think we need to put Resident Evil, or Shenmue or Super Mario 64, or stuff everyone knows about - everyone here either likes Shenmue or Resident Evil or they don't, and at this point, there is no point in arguing. I, and you, don't need to be told that Okami is a cult classic - yeah, I know, I still ain't going to play it, but we're all interested in hearing that "Shadow of Memories" on the PS2 is actually alright.

We all gawp at the thrift shops, we all scour eBay, we all fancy something different.

The idea is this: That I, or you, wake one morning, fancy a blast on the Saturn or PSX or N64 (for example), but Idon't know what to play, or get, or look into, or browse on the web for. For me, as I've said, the Saturn is Virtua-something and Nights into whatsits. The problem is not that I hate the Saturn, I just don't know anything about it. (Obviously) So we log onto here and have a look, and one of you, six months ago, swore by some not oft played game on the Saturn. It'd be great!

Then I spend 20 minutes looking it up on the web, to find out if I really would like it. And then another 20 minutes on eBay. Half the fun is looking up right?

So here's an example:

I reckon you guys might like the following PSX titles:

- Carnage Heart
- Colony Wars 3: Red Sun.

So, I post the titles, then I put a few pearls of wisdom (short) as to why you might like them and off we go. Not a review, something like: "I played this, it was aces, you made robots and programmed them to fight, and I had a lot fun - not for dummies."

You see, I'd love to get some joy out of my N64, or Xbox too, and I think we're all pretty much the same kind of gamer.

Generally speaking, if you guys recommend me a film or game, I generally look into it, because I sort of trust you. And you've all sort of trusted some of my 3DO related pearls of wisdom (even when I over-sold :) )so...

Even if you don't like a game, most of this stuff is a couple of dollars, it's not like wasting $80 on game that's rubbish.

What do you think?

We can all work together to enjoy gaming more.

The Retro Gaming Collective or the Uncommon Gamer. :)

A progression from "what are you playing" thread...

Hmmm ... could be a good idea. What console were you going to do first?

A lot of times when I bust out a game to play for a console, I will then end up playing all the games I own for said console. Since I have so many sytems it is impossible for me to have every single one hooked up all the time. So, if I go through the trouble to hook up my old Atari for example, I'm going to make sure I do more than just play 1/2 hour of Beserk. Saves me the trouble of having to box the unit back up only to pull it back out 3-4 days later.

Actually, for the bulk of my systems I could go up to a year maybe without touching it, and then play it straight for 3 months (3DO an obvious exception of course which is always hooked up) Looking at the list of games I've purchased so far this year I see a pattern of sticking w/one system mostly and than moving on to another. Not sure if this is unique to me, or if others do similar.

Anyway to wrap up, might be nice that when I pull out my sega cd 2 months from now I can hop over and see a list of cool games that I've missed. I agree, 1/2 the fun is looking up (w/the possible exception of some 3DO imports that are impossible to find out anything about ... grrr!)

Will be interesting to see what others think.

I was going to do them all simultanesouly, and people add when they think they can.

So, for example, if you have 2 or 3 SegaCD games, and 3 or 4 nintendo N64 games, you put straight up.

I think it sounds a little ambitious myself ... I would probably start by at least limiting it to one company. Like if it was Sega you'd have Master Systm, Genesis, Game Gear, Sega cd, 32X, Saturn, & Dreamcast. That is 7 systems just from one company.

If it is a new forum (which it sounds like it would have to be ... sticky's wouldn't cut it), you'd need moderators too.

Sounds like a great idea, 3DOKid.

BTW, I looked up "Shadow of Memories" thinking it's something special and new but turns out its just the European name for Shadow of Destiny. It is pretty decent. I replayed to the point where I got 4 out of 6 of the endings.

There we go, that's all I wanted to do. See the new stickies at the top of the general forum

We're all 'weird' gamers. I reckon this could be good and useful. I'm actually quite excited at reading what people put in the Sega/Nintendo lists.

I have a few Sony games that deserve the benefit of the doubt...

(just thought! Atari... I'll be back!)

Okay, I've already started posting. Should be fun to find games that 'flew under the radar' as it were.

It's already working. My ebay 'trigger' finger is already itching!

Should we just be posting console exclusives? For example, I want to recommend a couple multiplatform games, but the best versions are on Xbox, so I was going to post there.

Erm, yeah. Perhaps mention it's cross platform.
